As Dynamics 365 CRM continues to evolve, Microsoft frequently introduces new settings and features that streamline configuration and make the platform more customizable for developers and administrators alike. One such feature, which I’m excited to announce in this post, is a new setting that allows users to delete Out-of-the-Box (OOB) mappings directly within the CRM environment.
So, let’s Dive into it and understand how this feature works. The steps to enable it, and its implications for your future D365 CRM projects
What Happens when we try to Delete the OOB Mappings:
- If you attempt to delete an OOB mapping with this setting enabled, an error message will appear. An example of the error message you could get is shown below:
Below are the steps using which you can Disable this feature:
- Access Power Platform Admin Center: https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/
- Navigate to Settings > Features, scroll down to find Block Deletion of Out-of-the box Attribute Maps, by default, this setting is turned ON.
- Now, Toggle it to Off.
- After saving your changes, you’ll be able to delete OOB mappings in the CRM environment.
Advantages of Enabling This Setting:
By keeping this feature enabled, users gain the following benefits:
- Streamlined Cleanup: Easily remove unnecessary OOB mappings without resorting to custom development or complex procedures.
- Improved Performance: Simplify the CRM environment, making it more manageable and efficient.
Conclusion
The “Block Deletion of Out-of-the-Box Attribute Maps” setting offers greater flexibility and control in Dynamics 365 CRM. Enabled by default to prevent accidental deletions, it can be turned off when necessary for more advanced customization. This feature simplifies CRM management, helping developers and administrators maintain a cleaner and more efficient system.
