In many sales roles, capturing key details during client meetings can be challenging, as reps often need to save records before adding notes, which can result in missing important information. During a recent meeting with a potential client, Alex, our new CRM feature allowed me to take notes and upload documents in real-time—without having to save the record first. This streamlined process made it easier for the team to review and prepare for follow-ups while allowing me to focus more on nurturing client relationships and less on data entry.
As shown in the screenshot below, if a user wants to add a note or an attachment, they must first save the record and then proceed to add the note.
This feature in Dynamics 365 lets you add a note without saving the record beforehand. Here’s how you can enable it.
Navigate to make.powerapps.com and go to Tables.
Navigate to the Opportunity entity and open Forms.
Open the form for which you have to enable this new feature.
Click on the timeline and select the “Enable to author a note before saving the form” checkbox under the Notes section.
Click on Save and Publish.
After the table is published, users can add a note to a new opportunity record even before saving the record form. The note will automatically save once the record form is saved.
