Enhanced 'Selected Row' Trigger Now Available in Power Automate

We’re excited to witness the return of an enhanced ‘When a record is selected’ trigger in Power Automate, that was previously deprecated. The community has eagerly awaited its comeback ever since the old connector was announced for deprecation.

‘When a record is selected’ trigger is an impactful feature that enables users to initiate flows directly from the form/home-grid interface on one or multiple selected records, as demonstrated below:

But, now there is an enhancement in this trigger where you can provide an Input parameter, which will allow your outcomes to change, or be variable, for every run of your flow.

For example: If there’s a requirement to dynamically update the Credit Hold column in the Account table based on specific criteria, you can easily include an input of Yes/No type within the ‘When a record is selected‘ trigger, as shown below:

We can utilize the input to update the Account record by incorporating an update step in Power Automate, as shown below:

After saving the flow, select the Account record from the home grid where you wish to set the Credit Hold field to ‘Yes’. Execute the Power Automate, which will then prompt a pop-up for the user to select the input, as illustrated below:

After selecting the input, click on the “Run flow” button to initiate the execution of Power Automate in the background. This will update the Credit Hold column of the selected Account records to ‘Yes’, below is the screen clip for reference,

Conclusion:

With the enhanced “When a record is selected” trigger, users can utilize dynamic inputs to customize updates to selected records according to daily business needs.
